Keys View is a scenic overlook that must be placed high on the list when touring Joshua Tree National Park. This viewpoint is nestled on the western edge of a high mountain plateau and the unobstructed views extend to the horizon. Keys View is one of the best places to watch a long lasting sunset at the end of a long day, so this is a good place to chalk up as the last stop when doing a tour. Rain or shine, Keys View is well worth taking the time to check out! In fact, inclement weather actually adds a dramatic effect to the Keys View experience, especially during the winter season. Visitors are fully exposed to the elements at this high spot that overlooks the valley below, so it is best to bundle up if it is a chilly day. Joshua Tree National Park catches a lot of drizzling light rain when winter storms pass through, which is easy enough to negotiate with wet weather gear. Coastal fog and low elevation clouds drape the mountain peaks in this region when the environmental conditions are just right and this certainly is a captivating sight to see. For this reason, try not to let a little bit of wet weather stand in the way when visiting Joshua Tree National Park, because this is when Keys View really comes to life!

Destination West YouTube channel! https://www.youtube.com/@DestinationWestOrg *This website will be going through renovations soon. Separate destination articles will be combined after the videos replace the outdated photo gallery system. As many readers know, most of the writing was done on the fly while camping, so many articles read like a rough draft. The articles will be cleaned up and edited. Many of the old photos were straight out of the camera due camping limitations and the quality will be bumped up. Another goal is to make navigating the index pages easier and combining separate articles will help. This website will continue into the future and your patience is greatly appreciated!
